Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Born in Greece then moved to England at age sixteen. In Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA of Economics. As the first foreign student to serve as president of the highly regarded debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take over the position. Her popularity as a conservative columnist was consolidated after she graduated. When the Huffington Post was launched The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online platform for voice that gave critical opinions on the political situation. It was possible for her to recruit several prominent contributors who posted their views on culture and politics. Arianna gained fame after she decided to become an Independent Candidate in the California Recall Election in order to succeed the former governor Davis. Additionally she was the leader of the Detroit Project to develop fuel efficient cars. She was named The Most Influential Women in Media by Forbes in 2009, gaining 12th position on the list. That same year Guardian included her in the Top 100 Media List. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was made the president of this group. It included a variety of AOL products at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos, a management and journalism consultant. Though she shared a close friendship with her mother and father, it was their bond which shaped her. Through her early times, she demonstrated abilities to lead, and for this are still prominently known. At the age of 16, she moved to Britain for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. While in college and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the debate societies in the college where she eventually became its first foreign and female president. In 1972 she received an honorary degree in Economics. In the years following after graduation she worked as a journalist and TV host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
