April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players who have earned medals multiple times at an Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, who is a first-time Olympian. Ross wants to achieve more than just her first Olympic medal. And at the age of 39 this may be her last chance to achieve it. But she's still convinced of winning top awards. If we perform at our very best or even if we perform well, I think we'll win the gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. Also, it's a matter of chance. Ross, who was born 1982 and lived within Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in the sports of the Newport Harbor High School. She went on to compete in many sports in Newport Harbor High School. While a prep student, she competed in basketball, indoor volleyball and track. She was definitely the best in the game of indoor volleyball. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. Her achievements were rewarded in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Player of the Year. Additionally, in 2000, she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the Year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do since 2017. However, Ross was a major player in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. She actually won numerous major events in the past with two different partners. among them an icon of volleyball. The pair teamed together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international stage, claiming a world title in 2009. The duo eventually captured a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends that took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, took them out to win the gold medal. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. After high school and years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross was a ball with the Trojans of USC as an collegiate. Her time at USC was impressive. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000 as a young freshman. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. She was devastated by a personal tragedy during her sophomore years, yet she went on to be an All-American again. In her last two years she led the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. In 2003-2004, she was named the top collegiate female volleyball player in the US through the Honda Sports Award. Ross was a major in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the privilege of watching her daughter become the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross's mom died from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. As a result, Ross remains near to her mother who passed away. Margie at the beach as well as in her everyday life, inspires her.
