Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It became the most one music streamed at the moment within a period of six months. The song is a blend of pop music and reggaeton not only brought renewed attention for reggaeton, it also drew interest to Latin music more generally. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs in Spanish mainly, and 4 more songs in the year 2016. The Despacito album reached its peak popularity in 2017 19 songs mostly in Spanish made it to into the Top 100. This number rose to 41 by 2020. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix to Despacito (2017) popular artists have begun collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma on Medellin (2019). In 2020, a few Reggaeton stars were dissatisfied with its direction towards mainstream. But, the younger generation, Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the development. The genre often included elements of electronic dance music, and various other forms.
